Chandrababu Naidu Promises to Reduce Electricity Tariffs in AP

VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on a mission to woo votes and return to power, has promised to reduce electricity charges if his Telugu Desam wins the Assembly polls in AP.

Naidu predicted that the YSRC would be defeated in the upcoming elections as it was facing the public’s “ire”.

Some 1,000 activists of the YSRC joined the TD in Naidu’s presence during a programme held at NTR Bhavan on Friday.

Naidu alleged that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who promised to open dairies, is now giving the people’s property to Amul. “The people experienced four years of hell under Jagan Mohan Reddy's rule. Jagan Mohan Reddy is such that he killed his own Babai. No one will vote for such a person and his defeat in Pulivendula is certain,” Naidu said.

He branded Proddatur MLA Rachamallu Sivaprasada as a Bakasura (demon) as Nandam Subbaiah, a TD activist, was killed for “questioning the MLA's wrongdoings.”

The TD chief alleged that Rachamallu has a habit of handling matka, selling gutkas and collecting money even from pushcarts/ stalls.

In Jagan Mohan Reddy's rule, the people are facing severe financial difficulties as electricity charges were increased eight times in four years and a burden of Rs 51,000 crore was imposed on the people thus. “When the TD government comes to power, we will reduce the electricity charges,” Naidu promised the people.

He deplored that the price of tomato per kilo has reached Rs 200, prices of other essentials too have increased. “There is no control now. If prices had increased during the TD rule, we acted fast and controlled the trend.”

Proddutur TD in-charge Praveen Reddy, politburo member Srinivasulu Reddy, MLC Ramgopal Reddy, party leaders Mushtaq Ahmed, Nagul Meera and Syed Rafi participated in the programme.
