B Vinod Kumar asks Piyush Goyal to revive rail budget again

The Centre decided to merge the Railway Budget with the Union Budget three years ago.

Hyderabad: TRS leader Boianapalli Vinod Kumar on Saturday wrote to railway minister Piyush Goyal, requesting him to present a separate Railway Budget from the next financial year.

The letter stated, “I never thought that merger would one day make the railways just into another government department. The finance minister did not whisper a line about the railways in her Budget speech except about Metro trains and bullet trains which are high-hanging fruits for middle class Indians.”

He said, “Previously, when the Railway Budget was separate people of this nation used to wait for the Budget to know about new trains in their areas, allocation for the new lines, projects, the new survey proposals and other developments.”

The Centre decided to merge the Railway Budget with the Union Budget three years ago. The details for the allocations are known only a day or two later.
