All culprits arrested in Kodanad case: Edappadi K Palaniswami

Sayan who was travelling with his family to Thrissur was involved in a road accident between Palakkad and Thrissur

Chennai: Asserting that the investigation into the Kodanad estate watchman murder case progressed swiftly, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami told the Assembly that seven special police teams were formed to crack the case and all those involved in the murder and security breach at the estate have been arrested.

Responding to the issue raised in the Assembly by the Opposition DMK member J. Anbalagan, Mr Palaniswami said a day after the incident on April 24, the police swung into action and formed seven special teams and fanned out to trace the culprits. "The tracking of mobile phone calls in the vicinity helped the police to narrow down on the culprits, the police have conducted the investigation properly and arrested all the culprits,” Mr Palaniswami said.

Narrating the incidents leading to the murder of security guard Om Bahadur at the estate, the CM said about eleven persons who went to the Kodanad estate in three vehicles attacked and tied up and hanged Om Bahadur and attacked another guard Krishna Thapa who suffered injuries. The kingpin C Kanagaraj, a former driver of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, had connived with Sayan who hired 8 others from Kerala. They had attacked the guards and also barged into the estate.

Kanagaraj had died after a car hit him in Attur. Sayan who was travelling with his family to Thrissur was involved in a road accident between Palakkad and Thrissur and after treatment he was arrested. Manoj, Kutty and others were also arrested.
