Leaders extend Eid-ul-Fitr greetings in Chennai

Jayalalithaa said the AIADMK government is providing rice to 3,000 mosques during the month of Ramzan.

Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Wednesday greeted the Muslim people on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr wishing peace, love, health and wealth throughout the world.

She said the AIADMK government is providing rice to 3,000 mosques during the month of Ramzan and it increased the administration subsidy for Tamil Nadu State Haj Committee to Rs 30 lakh. The subsidy for Tamil Nadu Wakf Board administration too was hiked to Rs 1 crore by the AIADMK government, which is also providing sandalwood for Nagoor darga festival.

Governor K. Rosaiah who extended his greetings said the Holy Quran emphasises on belief, prayer, charity and good deeds.

“Let us resolve to promote brotherhood, unity, peace, love and compassion and join hands to create a harmonious world”, he added.

DMK chief M. Karunanidhi greeted Muslims and said his party respects Islam since it is against discrimination on the basis of caste and race and propagated equality and fraternity.

PMK founder S. Ramadoss said people should vow to improve world peace, prosperity and religious amity. MDMK general secetary Vaiko, who greeted Muslims said people should vow to work for religious harmony. Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan also wished for religious amity and wished happiness in the lives of Muslims.
