APCID clarifies on seizure of rebel MP Raju's mobile phone
VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (APCID) has clarified that the mobile phone seized from YSR Congress rebel MP K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju has been sent to AP Forensic Science Lab (APFSL) for analysis. The dump of the phone and dump data as well have been submitted to the jurisdictional court, the department pointed out.
MP Raju has lodged a complaint with Delhi police against AP CID alleging that his mobile phone is being misused. It is in this context that APCID issued a statement here on Monday stating that the MP’s phone has been seized as per procedure.
The seizure memo had been prepared in presence of witnesses on May 15. The CID said at the time of preparation of seizure memo, Ramakrishna Raju himself admitted that the iPhone 11 Pro Max mobile carried Airtel SIM with number 9000911111. There is no way to ascertain the actual number by inquiry officer except to record what was told by the MP, the investigating agency maintained.
It said later, the phone had been properly sealed in front of two witnesses to avoid any tampering. A report in this regard had been sent to the jurisdictional magistrate of the CID court in Guntur. The mobile phone had been sent in a sealed cover to APFSL on May 18 for preliminary analysis, dump data, images and for final report of the FSL. A dump of the phone has been submitted to the jurisdictional court on May 27. Thereafter, processed dump data has also been submitted to the court on May 31.
Referring to the complaint of MP to Delhi police claiming that his mobile phone with SIM No. 9000922222 is being misused, the APCID said this contradicts the statement made by the MP himself.
The APCID said that the mobile phone has been in the custody of APSFL since May 18 under seal. Since then, there has been no access to it.
The investigating agency charged that Ramakrishna Raju is trying to overawe APCID with false and frivolous complaints. It further clarified that it has no way to find out the actual number of the mobile phone, as the final report of APFSL is awaited. The agency said once the final report is received it would be possible to establish the SIM number of MP’s mobile phone.
The APCID stated that they are going to place all developments before the Supreme Court in accordance with the law.
The agency had booked rebel MP Raju in Hyderabad on charges of sedition on May 14.
