Will prevent Raveendranath Kumar from taking oath, says Elangovan
Chennai: Former TNCC president E. V. K. S. Elangovan who unsuccessfully contested from Theni, has warned of moving the court to prevent the successful AIADMK MP, P. Raveendranath Kumar, from taking charge as MP or Minister.
Elangovan, the lone Congress candidate who was defeated in the April Lok Sabha elections, has blamed the electronic voting machines and the Election Commission's “connivance” for his electoral defeat in Theni Lok Sabha constituency. He was fielded as part of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance. He claimed he had proof of wrongdoing and was waiting for some more proof. “I will approach the court to prevent Raveendranath from taking oath as MP and as Minister,” he said.
Meanwhile, Raveendranath, son of deputy chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, thanked the voters for electing him and assured them that he would accord priority to resolving the drinking water crisis in the constituency. He garlanded the statue of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar in Chathiravellalapatti village, accompanied by minister R. B. Udayakumar, he said.
