Need no one to form next govt, BJP\'s Ram Madhav amid hung result fears

Madhav expects the BJP to penetrate inside Odisha, West Bengal and the North East holding on to its electoral score in the North.

New Delhi: Expecting to garner more seats in the east and the northeast, the general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party Ram Madhav is confident of sealing a comfortable victory in the 2019 general election.

In an interview to NDTV, Madhav said, "We won't need anyone to form the next government, we are confident."

Negating the attempts made by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) of forming a government without the support of the BJP or the Congress, Madhav said, "Many leaders like KCR, Chandrababu Naidu dream of becoming kingmaker. When we have king, where is the need for a kingmaker?"

In this election, Madhav expects the BJP to penetrate inside Odisha, West Bengal and the North East holding on to its electoral score in the North.

On oppositon’s charge of nationalism and national security linked to the Pulwama terror attack and India’s retaliation with air strikes in Pakistan’s Balakot being miused by Modi during his election campaign, Madhav dismissed the same saying, “Mr Modi spoke about nationalism, national security for only five minutes during his speeches. The rest of his political speeches were on development projects.”

Five phases of elections are over with few key constituencies yet to vote. Varanasi, from where PM Modi is contesting, shall vote on May 19.
