Mallikarjun Kharge: Narendra Modi has no sanskar

The Congress leader predicted the party\'s victory in Amethi, Rae Bareli and elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh.

Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday took strong objection to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks against the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, saying he had lost his mental balance for speaking so offensively about someone who had laid down his life for his country.

"Mr Modi has lost his mental balance by making derogatory remarks against Rajiv Gandhi, who laid down his life for this country like his mother, Indira Gandhi. I think this time voters of this country will give him (Modi) some needed rest by defeating his party in the elections," he tweeted, warning that Mr Modi's doom was approaching. At a rally in Uttar Pradesh Saturday, the Prime Minister had attacked Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, saying, "Your father was called Mr Clean but his life ended as bhrashtachari no. 1" (Corrupt no. 1)."

Training his guns on Mr Modi for his comment, senior Congress leader, Mallikarjun Kharge said he lacked both political and practical knowledge. "He did not get sanskar (moral values) at home as he left it at a young age. People should have control over their tongues while speaking," he said and claimed that his comment reflected his frustration.

"When Mr Modi can speak so low about a person who gave his life for the nation, it means that he has no heart, no patriotism and his only objective is to win the election. It is unfortunate that the Prime Minister lacks the wisdom to know what to say and what not to. Except for talking, his contribution to the nation is zero," he charged.

The Congress leader predicted the party's victory in Amethi, Rae Bareli and elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh. While Mr Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Amethi , his mother, Sonia Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli.

Prime Minister Modi, addressing a poll rally in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, targeted former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi while attacking Rahul Gandhi.

"Your father (Rajiv Gandhi) was termed Mr Clean by his courtiers, but his life ended as bhrashtachari number 1 (corrupt number 1)," Modi had said at the rally.
