Telangana Gulf-migrant farmers to get cheques after May 17

He directed officials should inform the date of cheque distribution to the family members of Gulf-migrated farmers.

RAJANNA SIRCILLA: IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday said that farmers who have migrated to Gulf countries for employment would get cheques under Rythu Bandhu after May 17.

The cheque distribution under this scheme is scheduled between May 11 and 17. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would formally launch the distribution at Huzurabad on May 10.

Speaking to elected representatives and officials of the local body, Mr Rao said, “Thousands of people have migrated to the Gulf countries leaving behind their families, who are looking after their agriculture lands.”

He directed officials should inform the date of cheque distribution to the family members of Gulf-migrated farmers.

He asked the civic body representatives to mobilise 25,000 farmers from Rajanna Sircilla district for the launch event.

The minister said the entire country is looking at the Rythu Bandhu scheme and it will become a model scheme of first of its kind in the country.

Stating that the Rythu Bandhu scheme is one of the prestigious schemes of the TRS government, Mr Rao said the farmers should be mobilised from 13 mandals and two municipalities of Rajana Sircilla district.

He said 500 RTC buses are being arranged for the transportation of farmers from district.
