Don't get carried away with media prediction: M Karunanidhi

The votes will also help the development of our language and our state,â€he said.

Chennai: DMK chief M. Karunanidhi on Friday asked his party cadres not to get carried away by the media projection of his party could win the May 16 Assembly elections and urged them to work hard to ensure the victory of all the candidates of his party’s alliance.

“Though the DMK is in the opposition, the media has been projecting that party is growing steadily. But you (cadres) should not get overconfident and become lacklustre in their campaign. You should continue to work hard to ensure the DMK candidates, Congress candidate and all other alliance candidates victory,” Mr Karunanidhi advised his cadres while seeking votes for his party candidate J. Anbazhagan in Chepauk-Triplicane Assembly seat.

The 92-year-old Karunanidhi made a very brief speech lasting for mere five minutes much to the disappointment of his cadres who gathered to hear his speech and have a glimpse of him as it could be his last election campaign. He was addressing in as many as seven constituencies in the city and Tiruvallur from his refurbished tempo-traveller campaign vehicle.

Pointing to the AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa’s announcements of freebies, he said that media reports have said that those announcements cannot be implemented. He said that only his party know what the people need and implement it. “Your votes only help the DMK to come to power.

The votes will also help the development of our language and our state,” he said, appealing to the people to vote for his alliance candidates. Later, DMK chief campaigned in Thousand Lights, Anna Nagar, Maduravoyal, Ambattur, Avadi and Poonamallee seats.
