Don't criticise BJP, says CM Chandrababu Naidu
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed the rank and file of TD to follow the wait and watch policy, and not criticise the BJP leaders as the political situation was volatile after the Centre's denial to accord special status to the state. Andhra Pradesh will only lose, if leaders of both parties continue to slam each other, he said.
He was participating in a teleconference with the party senior leaders from his residence here on Friday. He said the state would gain nothing by leaving the BJP-led NDA. The state government wants to continue talks with the Centre to protect the interests of the people, he said and wanted the rank and file of TD to explain facts to the public, instead of criticising the BJP leaders.
He said the issue of special status was again taken to the notice of Union finance minister Arun Jaitley and that the State cabinet also requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to rethink about the matter.
“The Congress-led UPA government had divided the state unscientifically and Andhra Pradesh is now suffering due to it. The state should continue dialogue with the Centre and get funds and permissions by adopting a convincing approach," he added. Mr Naidu reiterated that the TD would not sacrifice the interests of the state for anything. He said the government is maintaining patience only to get benefits from the Centre.
