Bhongir MP denies rumours of leaving Congress

HYDERABAD: Congress Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Thursday denied rumours that he would be leaving the Congress. He asserted that he remained a loyal Congress worker, and referred to his recent party activities in the city and his constituency.

Brushing aside the reports, Venkat Reddy warned those spreading the “fake news”: “I have been working in the Congress for 35 years and resigned as a minister for the sake of Telangana. If this continues, they will have to pay the price.”

He said he had taken part in the protest programme in support of party leader Rahul Gandhi in Gandhi Bhavan and conducted several programmes in Bhongir. “I don’t have any options... I have Congress's blood. I don’t have any offers from the BJP. There is no requirement for me to say goodbye to the Congress,” he tweeted.

“Do not spread fake news that I will be forming a new party. Even joining another party is a mere rumour. Someone trying to cash in by spreading falsehoods, which does not befit their status,” he added.
