Lok Sabha polls 2019: YSRC targets women, farmers, daily wagers

The social security pension to the elderly has been hiked to Rs 3,000 and the eligibility age has been decreased from 65 to 60.

Vijayawada: YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy released the party manifesto at the party office in Tadepalli on the occasion of Ugadi on Saturday, focusing on welfare and empowering the marginalised sections, especially women.

The manifesto, released at about 10.30 am, lays out adequate steps to reverse farmer distress through Rythu Bharosa, by promising to provide investment support of Rs 12,500 per annum, free crop insurance, interest-free loans, and by setting up godowns, cold storages, and food processing plants.

Most of the benefits are women-centric: Rs 15,000 per annum under Amma Vodi for women sending their kids to school, Rs 50,000 per annum for DWCRA women under YSR Aasara and interest payment for self-help groups, Rs 75,000 for BC, SC,ST, and minority women over the age of 45 years under YSR Cheyutha, houses will be registered under the name of the women under YSR housing, marriage support worth upto Rs 1,00,000 for SC, ST, BC, and minority women, and liquor prohibition.

It has promised to put in place a ban on the sale of alcohol across the state. Consumption of alcohol will be restricted to 5-star hotels only. The social security pension to the elderly has been hiked to Rs 3,000 and the eligibility age has been decreased from 65 to 60.
