Kakinada: Election observers participate in Ugadi fete
Kakinada: Ugadi celebrations were held on a grand scale on Saturday here at Surya Kala Mandir by the State Cultural Department. This Telugu New Year is called `Vikari' and many of the poets and officials have hoped that this year would be beneficial to the people of all sections in the society and the agriculture sector would be developed vastly.
The celebrations began with ‘Nada Swaram’, an auspicious music by Mr Pasupuleti Venkata Ramana and team and Vedic Pandits recited chants for the welfare and development of the State, led by Eminent Vedic Pandit Mr Kappagantula Chandrasekhara Avadhani, Mr Choboli Venkata Rama Satya Prabhakara Avadhani, Mr Kompella Veerbhadra Prakash Avadhani and Mr Kanduri Anjaneya Sarma Avadhani.
The eminent Siddanthi and Almanac writer Mr Vakkalanka Ramakrishnamma has given predictions in the new almanac calendar. The District Collector Mr Karthikeya Misra has hoped that this Telugu New Year would give boons to the people of East Godavari and it would develop in all sectors. He asserted that the people would get happiness and enjoyment in this year.
Election observers R. Nanda Gopal, H. C. Modi, Anus Bhatnagar, Nilabradas Gupta, H.K. Katthava, Jitendra Singh, Ramsign Gurjar, S. R. Mena and others participated in the celebrations.
Mr Misra felicitated the observers, Vedic pandits, Nadaswara experts, poets and others.
Poets S.R. Prudwi, Pochinapeddi Subrahmanyam, Makineedi Surya Bhas-kar, Padmajavani, N. V. S. Satyanarayana Murthy, N.V.S. Indira, M.D. Ibrahim, K.T. Padmaja, Rali Prasad, Nalla Narasimham Murthy, Madda Satyanarayana and others recited their poems on the eve of New Telugu Year. They also explained the significance of the vote and they called upon the voters to exercise their vote wisely.
