JD(S) men, Sumalatha Ambarish's fans at war on FB

The two sides have been shooting off questions to each other on social media nearly every day that are followed by hundreds on Facebook.

Bengaluru: A war has erupted on social media between Janata Dal(Secular) workers and fans of the late actor /politician, M.H. Ambarish, over the tussle for Mandya between his wife, Sumalatha and the Chief Minister's son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy for the coming Lok Sabha poll.

The two sides have been shooting off questions to each other on social media nearly every day that are followed by hundreds on Facebook, who don't fight shy of airing their views either. While the social media face-off began small, it has developed into a full blown battle since Ms Sumalatha made her intention clear of entering the poll as an independent candidate from Mandya.

Seeing the easy win he had expected slipping out of his party's hands, an FB user, who claimed to be a JDS worker, shot off a volley of questions to Ms Sumalatha, asking her why she was entering politics when her husband had said no member of his family would, and what Ambarish's contribution was to Mandya.

While Ms Sumalatha has said she will reply to the questions at the right time, a die-hard fan of Ambarish on Tuesday posted five questions of his own to the Chief Minister, asking among other things how Nikhil could contest the Lok Sabha poll when he was not a party worker and how Mr Kumaraswamy could talk ill of a dead person

Meanwhile, undeterred by all the fuss, Mr Nikhil Kumaraswamy is said to have rented a palatial bungalow in Maddur town to help him campaign in the constituency.

Ms Sumalatha too is reportedly looking for a house to rent to help with her campaigning although she has started building a house on the plot bought by Ambarish in the city .
