Hyderabad: Relief to DGP in contempt of court case

The case will again be presented before Justice B. Sivasankara Rao on March 8, 2019.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday stayed all proceedings against DGP M. Mahender Reddy and SPs of the Nalgonda and Jogulamba Gadwal districts, A.V. Ranganath and Rema Rajeshwari (now at Mahbubnagar), in the contempt case related to extending security cover to former MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar who were expelled from the previous Assembly.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice A. Rajashekar Reddy, was dealing with the contempt appeals filed by the said three police officials individually.

When the appeals came up for hearing the bench passed orders stating that all further proceedings in the contempt case before the single judge, including the personal appearance of the officers before the court, would be stayed. The case will again be presented before Justice B. Sivasankara Rao on March 8, 2019.
