Rahul Gandhi targets BJP, Naveen Patnaik

Mr Gandhi alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wants to loot land from the innocent tribals.

Bhubaneswar: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on both NDA government at the Centre and Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha over and Rafale and chit fund scams, respectively.

Addressing the party’s Paribartan Sankalp Samavesh here, Mr Gandhi said, “While Naveen Patnaik gave you corruption and chit fund scam, Modi gave Rafale scam to the country. Modi looted money from you in the name of demonetisation and gave it to Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya and Anil Ambani.”

He promised that Congress would return all looted money to the people of the country if the party was voted to power. Rahul also promised minimum income guarantee for everyone in the country and said money will be directly credited to their bank accounts.

The Congress president also targeted the Naveen government over unemployment alleging that large numbers of people were migrating to other states in search of work.

Mr Gandhi alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wants to loot land from the innocent tribals. “The BJD government has deprived tribals of their basic rights, be it land, forest and water,” he said, assuring that Congress will ensure that rights of Adivasis will be restored.

“Congress has always given special treatment to the KBK region. The Union government should give special attention to the KBK districts for development of people in this region. But both the Modi and Naveen governments have only neglected the people here,” he added.

The AICC president also assured that Congress will write off loans of farmers and increase paddy MSP to '2600, if it returns to power.

Besides, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Congress Odisha in-charge Jitendra Sigh, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, OPCC working president Pradeep Majhi attacked the state government and the Centre over various issues.

After the Paribartan Sankalp Samavesh, Rahul Gandhi attended another public meeting in Rourkela in the afternoon where he also strongly criticised the Modi and Patnaik governments over the same issues.
