Mr Rao also said that the promotions and transfers were governed by rules, regulations and administrative conveniences.

Vijayawada: Police officials have condemned the complaint made by YSRC chief Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, to the Election Commission against police officials. They stated that it was disheartening to note that the opposition leader had complained against the police leadership of AP.

AP IPS Officers Association, secretary, Mr D. Tirumala Rao stated that the leadership to AP Police was filled with IPS officers who belonged to All India Service and they were committed to uphold the Constitution of India and rule of law. They performed their duties without fear or favour, giving no room for any kind of undue favouritism based on caste, creed, and religion etc.

He further stated that AP Police had exhibited professionalism while fighting left-wing extremism, terrorism and other divisive forces and had successfully handled internal security challenges in the toughest of conditions.

“During the elections, the entire police force act under the directions of the Election Commission of India and there is no room for any favouritism. It is disheartening to note that some political parties are making comments adversely affecting the morale of the police force,” said Mr Tirumala Rao.

Mr Rao also said that the promotions and transfers were governed by rules, regulations and administrative conveniences. They could not be done at the whims and fancies of individuals. Aggrieved parties could always appro-ach various forums for redressal, he added.

Mr Rao further asserted that the AP IPS Officers Associa-tion strongly condemned the allegations made by Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He appealed to the political parties and said that he sincerely requested them not to drag the police force into political issues.
