Budget to cover up TD failure: YSRC

''The claim of making Amaravti as a top city in the world makes no sense as there is no allocation made in the budget\", alleged Mr Reddy.

Vijayawada: Pooh-poohing the vote-on-account Budget of Chandrababu Naidu Government with its tall claims and severe shortfall of genuineness and practicality, YSR Congress has said that it was a meek attempt to cover up its failure of fulfilling 600 poll promises which haunts the TD leadership and the reason that it has lost its credibility.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, party MLA and PAC chairman Mr Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said, “The Budget is not vote-on-account but an account-for-votes budget which is a futile exercise as what they are eligible for in the election year is to give clearance for paying salaries, pensions and interests. The tall promises and claims made in the budget reflects the intent of TD government which has been indifferent for 4.5 years and now it is as if they have woken up from deep slumber and started giving away freebies, that too without proper allocation. This will inflate the revenues and grant-in-aid receivable without any basis."

Mr Reddy added that the Annadata Sukhibhava and Pasupu Kumkuma schemes were being projected as charity while it was the right of the farmers and women to get back their money.

"For all the four years, Chandrababu Naidu went back on the 600 poll promises and the loan waiver of farmers and women groups have been drastically cut down and now they have been giving pittance and taking loads of publicity. The claim of making Amaravti as a top city in the world makes no sense as there is no allocation made in the budget", alleged Mr Reddy.

He further said, "The misuse of official machinery and transfers to focal posts and creating new posts besides filling them up with one particular community shows the levels of nepotism. We have taken a small sample and it is not the number but the pattern and percentage that counts. Of the 121 focal posts, majority are from the community of the Chief Minister leaving four to Kapus and five to SCs. Rank promotions are being encouraged and are inducted into cadre posts which is an anomaly. In the Intelligence headquarters the top ranking officers belong to the same community as that of Chandrababu Naidu which is a clear case of nepotism. The favoured persons are given out-of-turn postings ahead of elections."
