SM Krishna episode: Gag order for Congmen against making statements

The source rationalised that Dr Parameshwar issued these directions keeping the forthcoming by-elections.

Bengaluru: Moving cautiously on the resignation episode of former external affairs minister S.M. Krishna, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar on Monday directed party leaders not to react publicly to the happenings of the past few days.

Speaking to DC after the party state office bearers' and DCC presidents’ meeting here, Dr Parameshwar reportedly told leaders that Mr Krishna's resignation will be dealt with by the AICC itself.

"Mr Krishna being a senior leader, has sent his resignation to AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, hence, as per party protocol, the entire episode will be looked into by AICC level leaders only and no state leader (DCC president or state spokesperson) will react to this," the source explained.

The source rationalised that Dr Parameshwar issued these directions keeping the forthcoming by-elections to Nanjangud and Gundlupet assembly segments in mind.

"Mr Krishna is not only a senior Congress leader but is also seen as one of the tall leaders among the Vokkaliga community. So, any hasty reaction against such a leader may result in a backlash of the community. The Congress does not want to play with emotions by making leaders talk about it," the source contended.
