ZP-TP polls: Two BJP MLCs clash, embarrass top party netas in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Taking senior party leaders by surprise, BJP MLC, Ramachandra Gowda cornered and abused party nominated MLC, Lehar Singh at the state BJP office here on Saturday.
As party workers and leaders watched mutely Mr Gowda reportedly used filthy language to abuse Mr. Singh as they emerged from the programme to release the party manifesto for ZP-TP polls.
The former is said to have been upset with Mr Singh for dodging him on various occasions when he wanted to discuss the release of MLC grants.
According to BJP sources, Mr. Gowda wanted Mr Singh to give Rs 50 lakh from his MLC’s grant to his Bengaluru graduate’s constituency. While Mr. Singh reportedly agreed at first, he later avoided Mr. Gowda.
Three months ago Mr. Singh offered to meet Mr Gowda at the Town Hall, but did not turn up, leaving the latter waiting. He later agreed to meet himat Kamat hotel on JC Road, but once again did not turn up.
Finally hearing that Mr. Singh was at the party office for release of manifesto, Mr Gowda rushed there and abused him in public for avoiding him. It was left to state BJP president, Pralhad Joshi to pacify the senior leader, they added.
BJP promises corruption-free ZPs, TPs if voted to power
The BJP has promised to provide a corruption- free and transparent administration in zilla panchayats and taluk panchayats if voted to power in the coming elections.
Releasing an 18-page manifesto here on Saturday, state BJP president, Pralhad Joshi promised, among other things, to increase the honorarium for ZP-TP members periodically and pressure the state government to up the grant for TPs to Rs 5 crore and for ZPs to Rs 10 crore.
The manifesto promises timely release of funds to ZPs and TPs, setting up planning committees at taluk-level and vigilance committees to oversee implementation of projects.
Mr Joshi spoke about implementing the Prime Minister’s ambitious programme to bring in digitalization at the taluk and zilla panchayat level and about introducing solar streetlights in villages and distributing LED bulbs among their people.
