Sasikala invited to inaugurate conclave in Chennai
Chennai: AIADMK general secretary V. K. Sasikala has been invited to inaugurate the first edition of India Today South Conclave here on Monday, in what could be her first public event outside the party forum. It is understood Mrs Sasikala has not yet confirmed her participation in the event on January 9.
Same is the case with Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who is yet to confirm his participation to deliver his address on the topic "Sunrise in the South: Leading the Way". Monday will also see Union urban development minister M. Venkaiah Naidu speaking on "Cooperate and Compete: The Federal Mantra".
This is the first time India Today, which has interests in both print and electronic media, is organising its conclave outside New Delhi. India Today Conclave usually held in March in New Delhi is one of the major events that has seen the participation of several Prime Ministers, Union ministers and even former Presidents of the US and Pakistan.
On Tuesday, leader of Opposition and DMK working president M.K. Stalin would speak on "Development or Doles: What works in Tamil Nadu?" a topic that is quite important for the people of Tamil Nadu, who have seen less development and more of doles in the past few decades.
Tuesday will also see Chief Ministers of Andh ra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka addressing sessions on various topics. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been invited to speak on "Fulfilling a Promise: Building a New State" on Tuesday, but he is yet to confirm his participation.
