Sharad Pawar-led NCP Invites Digvijay Singh, Uddhav Thackeray for Event in Nagpur
Mumbai: While the regional partners of the INDIA alliance from other parts of the country have started throwing their weight around after the results of five state assembly elections, Congress’s alliance partners in Maharashtra are standing by the grand old party.
The Sharad Pawar-led NCP and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena UBT have asserted that they will continue to work with the Congress. The NCP has invited Congress leader Digvijay Singh and Mr. Thackeray to address a public rally along with Mr. Pawar in Nagpur on December 12. The meeting will mark the conclusion of the ‘Yuva Sangharsh Yatra’ held by NCP MLA and Sharad Pawar’s grand nephew Rohit Pawar.
Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, who is one of the leaders of the Sharad Pawar faction, informed that the three leaders will address a public event at the Zero Mile area in Nagpur. “Sharad Pawar, Mr. Thackeray and Mr. Singh will address the public meeting in Nagpur on December 12. Other leaders from the from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising NCP, Sena (UBT) and Congress, will also be invited,” he said.
Mr. Deshmukh also expressed confidence that MVA will win the assembly elections whenever it is held and will return to power in the state.
The 'Yuva Sangharsh Yatra,' led by NCP MLA Rohit Pawar, commenced on October 24 from Pune, aiming to highlight various issues faced by the youth in Maharashtra. The foot march, covering over 800 km in 28 talukas and 420 villages across 10 districts including Pune, Nagar, Beed, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Washim, Amravati, Yavatmal, and Nagpur, will culminate in Nagpur during the Winter Session of the state legislature.
After the conclusion of the event, Rohit Pawar will submit to the government the concerns of the youth, which they expressed to him in interactions during the yatra.
