City dull, but 80 per cent in Karnataka rural

The KR Pete and Hunsur constituencies in the Old Mysuru region too registered around 80% polling.

There was moderately high polling in all constituencies except those in Bengaluru with the overall voting pegged at 66.25 per cent.

The highest percentage was witnessed in Hosakote where more than 90 per cent voters exercised their franchise while the lowest was recorded at Shivajinagar and KR Puram in the IT City where the voter turnout was as low as around 40 per cent.

In the high profile Hosakote seat, Independent, Sharath Bachche Gowda, a BJP rebel, is posing a tough a challenge to BJP candidate MT.B. Nagaraj was recorded.

The KR Pete and Hunsur constituencies in the Old Mysuru region too registered around 80% polling.

The three constituencies in Belagavi district registered over 70% voting indicating a tough battle with Athani registering 75.23 per cent, Kagwad, 76.27 per cent and the prestigious Gokak constituency where the Jarkiholi brothers-Ramesh and Lakhan are fighting it out- registering over 73.08 per cent voting.

Yellapur, the lone constituency in Uttara Kannada district registered voting of over 77.52 per cent while the two constituencies in Haveri district -- Hirekerur and Ranebennur too registered over 70 per cent polling.

Vijayanagar, the sole constituency in Ballari district, registered 64.95 per cent voter turnout while KR Pete in Mandya district witnessed 80 per cent polling and Hunsur in Mysuru, 80.62 per cent voting.
