Nalgonda gets fluoride water, KCR drinks mineral water: Rahul Gandhi
Hyderabad: Congress president Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his family for drinking mineral water when people in Nalgonda district were being forced to consume dangerous fluoride-rich water.
Speaking at the Kodad Assembly constituency, where TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy’s wife Padmavathi is contesting, he said there was a cyclonic change in the mood in Telangana and saw a wave in favour of the Congress. This was his last public meeting ahead of the December 7 Assembly elections
Mr Gandhi said Mr Rao had been announcing that wherever he went, he would adopt that place. The Congress president said Mr Rao should adopt the youth who were depressed, the farmers and the families of Telangana martyrs instead.
Mr Gandhi said that in the last four-and-a-half years Mr Rao had done nothing for the youth and farmers but “was a standby alternative for contractors.” He said Mr Rao’s family’s wealth had increased 400 per cent whereas every family in the state had a '2 lakh debt.
Mr Gandhi said that Mr Rao in the past had assured people when he came to Nalgonda about building a 100-bed hospital but had not fulfilled it.
If the People’s Front led by the Congress came to power, it would fulfil the promises.
He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had waived '3.5 lakh crore of loans of 15 people.
“Mr Modi and Mr Rao often discuss farmers’ problems but both has been done for them. He said that all farmers have decided to remove Mr Rao from power.”
The Congress president said that after the Telangana, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh elections, the party would send Mr Modi home from Delhi.
He alleged that Mr Rao often criticised the People’s Front leaders including him and AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu but he was never found to criticise Mr Modi. He said the “Telangana remote” was with Mr Modi and they would dismantle the relationship between the two.
