This GT Devegowda says Siddaramaiah wants to be PM

He was addressing a press meet on Sunday related to the Kumaraparva' JD(S) mega convention to be held at Chamundeswari on Tuesday.

Mysuru: If his mentor and JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda could become Prime Minister, why not Siddaramaiah?

That seems to be the thought which made former minister and Chamundeswari constituency JD(S) MLA Mr G.T. Devegowda remark on Sunday that the Chief Minister's target was neither winning the next assembly elections nor the Chamundeswari seat. It was the post of Prime Minister which he was eyeing with the Congress high command growing pretty weak, said the veteran leader.

He was addressing a press meet on Sunday related to the ‘Kumaraparva’ JD(S) mega convention to be held at Chamundeswari on Tuesday. “Mr Siddaramaiah aspires to become PM and hence he had stated that PM Modi is scared of him. In state politics, Mr Siddaramaiah has been compared to Devraj Urs for his commitment to social justice.

Devraj Urs who did well as CM, aspired to become PM and hence developed differences with Indira Gandhi and was expelled from the party. The Congress high command has now become weak and Mr Rahul Gandhi has been finding it difficult to take the party ahead. And hence Mr Siddaramaiah aims at becoming PM, this is what he has in mind. Just wait and watch what will happen in 2019,” he said.

Ahead of Assembly polls, JD(S) is launching ‘Kumaraparva’ – a series of conventions across the state. Mr Deve Gowda, Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy and other senior JD (S) leaders will participate in the convention. Mr Devegowda also launched a bike rally of party workers, who will visit all villages.
