Telangana Assembly Elections: Nadda Calls Elections a Fight for the State\'s Future

Modi gave money, which Rao messed up and will do again if given a chance

HYDERABAD: The ensuing Assembly elections will be a fight for the future of Telangana, its people and its development. It would have a direct impact on the country’s strength, BJP president J.P. Nadda said here on Friday.

In a scathing attack on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, and the BRS, Nadda said: “This is my message to him. Do you have no shame? You have joined hands with Razakars. Do I need to tell the people what the Razakars did to them?”

Calling the BRS a family party like many others in the country, Nadda said “family parties do not care for people. India moves on issues and ideology and is not a country that performs aartis to a family. A family cannot reduce our democracy to the level of a slave.”

Every other party in the country, including the Congress which claims it is a national party, is a family-run. They change their stands and principles according to their whims and fancies. It is only the BJP that has not deviated from its principles and policies since its inception, Nadda said.

Addressing the BJP state council meeting at a private venue near the city, Nadda told party leaders and workers from all districts that there should be no two thoughts when it comes to campaigning.

“Everything the BJP government at the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, did is an issue people should know about. Go boldly for there is no reason to feel any different. What can I say about the corruption that BRS leaders are neck-deep into? This government has played with the lives of the youth, leaked SSC exam and TSPSC papers putting the future of 30 lakh youth in jeopardy. Such a government needs to be thrown out, lock, stock and barrel,” he said.

“Modi gave money, which Rao messed up and will do again if given a chance. Should he not be removed? The worry is that even as Modi keeps pouring resources into the Telangana pot, the pot should not spring leaks,” Nadda said.

The BJP president said “for years, Congress ruled and left the state in tatters and whatever remained has been wiped out by Rao.”

Nadda reeled out how Telangana benefited hugely from the BJP and NDA government’s programmes, listing among others, how two crore people from Telangana receive five kg of rice and five kg of wheat along with a kg of pulses from the Centre; 2.5 lakh houses for the poor were constructed under the PM Awas Yojana and 31 lakh toilets under Swachh Bharat.

“Tell people that when Telangana wins, the country wins. Tell them about what the Modi government has done for them and ensure that the lotus blooms in every village in the state. Changing the future of Telangana for the better can only be done by the BJP,” Nadda said.
