TS Congress urges CEO to take action against fake voters

HYDERABAD: Expressing apprehension about the inclusion of fake voters from Maharashtra through a suspected racket in the Nizamabad, Armoor, and Bodhan Assembly constituencies, a senior Congress leader filed a complaint with the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj to conduct a police probe.

The Congress leader highlighted a complaint filed by Tahir Bin Hamdan, TPCC vice-president dated September 3. It was filed in the wake of police detaining a gang while trying to include fake voters at a polling station in Malapally in the Nizamabad Urban Assembly segment.

According to the complaint, the gang had in its possession the voter’s lists. IT had created a WhatsApp group in which Najiya Begum, BLO of Booth No. 262 was a member.

Taher reported the matter to the Nizamabad municipal commissioner who instructed the tahsildar of Nizamabad South to investigate. The police were able to detain two individuals, Srinivas, and Sahabana Tabassum, while the rest managed to escape.
