Revanth comes in support of village revenue assistants

Hyderabad: Alleging that some 20 VRAs (village revenue assistants) had committed suicide during the ongoing stir against the state government's ‘adamant’ attitude, the Congress has decided to highlight the issue in the upcoming monsoon sessions of the Legislative Assembly.

Strongly condemning the state government's 'apathetic attitude' towards VRAs, TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy alleged that over 20 persons had lost their lives, including the latest suicide by K Ashok in Kamareddy district.

Speaking to media persons here on Monday, Reddy assured complete Congress
support for the VRAs cause and urged them not to take their lives.

"I shall discuss the matter with CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka so that it gets highlighted in the Assembly. I will also write to the Chief Minister. However, K. Chandrashekar Rao does not value lives of the poor and hence is not concerned about public issues," he said.

Earlier in the day, representatives of VRA's Association met Revanth Reddy
and Sanga Reddy MLA, T Jagga Reddy separately.

"I shall be doing my bit so that the VRAs get their due," said Jagga Reddy.

Meanwhile, the CLP leader at a press conference demanded that the government have a 20-day session, so that important public issues could be discussed.

Apart from taking up Godavari floods and irrigation projects, the Congress is keen to debate on issues related to education, botched family planning surgeries, and viral fevers.
