Pragathi Bhavan hub of scams, accuses Revanth Reddy

HYDERABAD: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy criticised the TRS government on Tuesday, alleging that Pragathi Bhavan had become a hotbed of corruption and epicentre of scams under the current administration while demanding that the BJP-led NDA government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi order a probe by central investigative agencies.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, Revanth Reddy claimed several "defected" MLAs who joined the TRS in the eight years between 2014 and 2022 had obtained numerous favours in the form of contracts and land regularisations and that Pragathi Bhavan was the hub for these scams.

“We have credible information that Pragathi Bhavan is the hub for several scams. I demand that the BJP-led Union government order a joint investigation by the ED, CBI, and the I-T department in order to unearth the evidence to nail KCR and his party members' involvement in the scams,” Revanth Reddy said.

Regarding the Delhi liquor scam, he claimed that the mere accusations made by BJP leaders regarding the alleged involvement of TRS MLA K. Kavitha, the daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, wouldn't matter and that Pragathi Bhavan should be raided by the government's central investigative agencies in order to uncover information regarding contracts, sand, land mafia, and other related matters.

“If the BJP government at the Centre is sincere, it should ask the national agencies to conduct a probe. Efforts to capture tiny fish is pointless. They must take a whale in order to fight corruption effectively,” he remarked.

Regarding the Telangana Liberation Day celebrations starting from September 17, the Congress leader said that the union of the State of Hyderabad with the Indian Union was comparable to India's independence from the British. “The BJP and TRS are playing cheap politics over the issue. Congress played a crucial role in India's independence. Similarly, the role of Communists and Congress cannot be forgotten in fighting the might of the Razakars. The BJP is trying to ensure that people see this historical event from the Hindu-Muslim perspective. Several people, including Turrebaz Khan and Shoebullah Khan gave up their lives,” Revanth Reddy said.

Telangana Liberation Day was officially recognised by both Karnataka and Maharashtra when the Congress government was in power, he noted. He advised that the Telangana Liberation Day celebrations be observed as ‘Swatantra Vajrotsavalu’ since Telangana is now a separate state.

Gaddar meets Revanth

Balladeer Gaddar called on TPCC president a. Revanth Reddy earlier in the day to discuss the demand of renaming the new Parliament building in Dr B.R. Ambedkar's honour. "We'll set up a committee to look into this. In order to bring up the subject during the upcoming parliamentary session, an all-party meeting would be organised before presenting a resolution to Sonia Gandhi,” Revanth Reddy stated.

‘Take a whale, not tiny fish’

“We have credible information that Pragathi Bhavan is the hub for several scams. I demand that the BJP-led Union government order a joint investigation by the ED, CBI, and I-T department in order to unearth the evidence to nail KCR and his party members' involvement in scams. Efforts to capture tiny fish is pointless. They must take a whale in order to fight corruption effectively," said Revanth Reddy, TPCC president
