Do not include franchise policy in BSNL: TNCC president

TNCC President Su Thirunavukkarasar said that the government's initiative would deteriorate the service provider.

Chennai: A day after Deccan Chronicle published a report on the Central Government's take to outsource a part of BSNL's operations, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Su Thirunavukkarasar condemned the move.

BSNL is intending to include a franchise policy in the Customer Service Centres (CSC) that plays a vital role in any telecommunications company acting as a bridge between the customers and the service providers. BSNL's growth is important to the country, as it would keep a check on the private players who would otherwise hike up their charges

TNCC President Su Thirunavukkarasar said that the government's initiative would deteriorate the service provider, which has been catering majorly to the poor. "A protest would be organised if the central government does not takes back the decision," said Thirunavukkarasar.

"At a time when BSNL is already losing its customer base, a move to include a franchise policy will help the growth of private players. It will result in the closure of the BSNL," said Thirunavukkarasar, in a statement.
