Skirmishes continue between BJP, AIADMK

CHENNAI: BJP State President K Annamalai, who is on the first leg of his ‘yatra’ that started from Rameswaram on July 28, is said to be cutting short the journey and taking a flight to New Delhi on Sunday to meet his party national president J P Nadda.

The sudden trip to Delhi, however, triggered speculation in the political circles as the BJP and AIADMK continued to be at loggerheads, despite the top honchos on both sides coming to an agreement to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Some leaders in the AIADMK were squabbling with Annamalai through their exchanges and the latest one was Sellur Raju, who said that the AIADMK would treat others with respect only when they remained within their limits in an apparent reference to some remarks.

Since Annamalai meets media persons at various places in the course of his ‘yatra,’ his reaction to the remark was sought and he said that he did not deem it fit to reply to someone like Raju. So, when Raju’s attention was drawn to that, he shot back saying that Annamalai was a novice.

So, the BJP made its State Vice President Karu Nagarajan retort to that statement and he made disparaging statements against Raju, revealing that all was not well between the two allies.
