Hyderabad: The Centre has copied one more scheme of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao — Mission Bhagiratha —to provide piped water to all households.
Presenting the Union budget on Friday, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme with the same objective as Mission Bhagiratha, but on a nationwide scale. It may be recalled that the Centre had replicated Mr Rao’s Rythu Bandhu scheme to provide input subsidy to farmers before the Lok Sabha elections.
Ms Sitharaman said that the Har Ghar Jal programme under the Jal Jeevan Mission would merge with other central and state schemes to achieve sustainable water supply management.
