M Kodandaram's voice implementing Congress words: TRS government

“M Kodandaram is acting like a Congress agent and implementing its agenda, said the TRS legislators

Hyderabad: The TRS on Wednesday made it clear that it was supporting the Central government in all its key decisions in the interest of Telangana state but would not keep quiet if the Centre tries to do any injustice to the state.

Refuting allegations levelled by Congress leaders that the TRS has compromised its secular credentials by supporting NDA Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind, legislators Karne Prabhakar and Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy on Wednesday said that as a proponent of a federal democratic system in the country, the TRS was extending only issue based support to the Centre.

They said that when the NDA announced its candidate, the TRS chief decided that the party should support Mr Kovind’s candidature since he was a Dalit. There were were no other considerations, they said.

They also alleged Congress decided on Meira Kumar as the UPA’s candidate only after coming to know about NDA candidate and not earlier. This, they said, was a clear bid to politicise the Presidential polls.

The TRS legislators also came down heavily on TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram, saying that he had falsely accuse the TRS government of suggesting alternatives for supply of waters from Dindi project via Narlapur reservoir that was a settled issue.

“He is acting like a Congress agent and implementing its agenda. How can he rake up a fresh controversy over Dindi project and trying to incite trouble between the people of Nalgonda and Nagarkurnool districts?” they asked.

They said TRS government has been trying to get more than 80 tmc ft of water from Srisailam dam as per the state’s entitlement.
