Raju urges Delhi cops to act against AP-CID
Vijayawada: Giving a new twist to the case of his alleged ill-treatment by the AP-CID sleuths, YSRC rebel MP K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju on Saturday lodged a complaint with the Delhi police against AP-CID Additional Director General P.V. Sunil Kumar. He urged them to inquire into the officer’s unlawful acts and initiate a legal action.
The MP in his complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi Parliament Street, on Saturday stated that he was picked up and whisked away by the AP-CID sleuths from his residence in Hyderabad on May 14 at the behest of Sunil Kumar on frivolous charges. At the time of his arrest, the police took away his mobile phone with Whastapp number 9000911111 and did not show it in records as a seized property and also failed to return it to him. He said he had already served a legal notice to the Additional DG on the issue on Friday.
The MP said that on the night of May 14, the officer along with four others beat him up mercilessly and one of them sat on his chest and compelled him to disclose the PIN to unlock the mobile phone. He added that in order to save his life, he disclosed it. He said the AP-CID did not issue any seizure memo and also failed to deposit the seized material from him before the jurisdictional court.
The MP stated that to his utter surprise, he received a tweet from former IAS officer P.V. Ramesh on his official twitter ID, stating that, “I am notifying this information in public interest. I and my family members have been receiving Whatsapp messages from an unlisted number 9000911111 purported to be from @RaghuRaju_MP. The MP may respond.”
The MP responded to the tweet, saying that, “Shri @RameshPV2010 My mobile was unofficially seized by CI police in AP on May 14th, the day of my arrest. Still, it is with them. I have issued legal notice yesterday to return it. Four days back blocked that SIM and obtained a new one. From May 14 to June 1, I have sent any messages to anyone. I assure you that appropriate legal action would be initiated against Sunil Kumar and others if they misused in violation of rules.”
The MP alleged that there were some marital differences between Sunil Kumar and the sister of Ramesh and a case was pending before the jurisdictional High Court and added that he realised that his mobile phone was being used for dubious reasons such as those to implicate him falsely in other frivolous cases to damage his reputation. He said that he was having a reasonable cause to believe that Sunil Kumar would have misappropriated his movable property which was in his custody.
The MP raised apprehensions that such messages would have been sent by Sunil Kumar to many others and regular/Whatsapp calls would have been made to various other numbers and wanted the police to take up a thorough inquiry to find out about the misappropriation of his mobile phone from May 14 to June 1.
The MP said that as such a move amounted to violation of various laws the Delhi police should initiate appropriate legal action under various sections against Sunil Kumar and invoke any other relevant provision of IPC as appropriate.
