BS Yeddyurappa: Why politicise my Dalit visits?

Yeddyurappa claims he is only trying to study their problems.

Belagavi: BJP state chief, B S Yeddyurappa on Monday accused the Congress of trying to politicise his visits to the homes of Dalits as part of his tour of drought-hit districts.

Claiming that he was merely visiting their homes to learn of their problems and not for any political reason, he contended that the Congress, which was unable to digest his interest in the welfare of Dalits was making all sorts of charges against him.

The BJP leader, who was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Chikkodi, near Belagavi, also claimed in response to a question on rising atrocities on Dalits and minorities in Uttar Pradesh under BJP rule, that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had made sure law and order was restored within 24 hours. "But Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has not taken any measures to tackle injustice being done to Dalits in Karnataka," he charged.

Earlier, at a meeting of his party leaders, Mr Yeddyurappa alleged that the Congress was taking credit for most of the Centre's projects and urged his party leaders to create awareness among people about this. “Siddaramaiah is taking credit for the Anna Bhagya Yojana although the Centre released most of the funds for it. Similarly when the Centre has allotted LPG cylinders to BPL families and the state government has supplied only the stoves, it has taken credit for this scheme too,'' he regretted.
