Priyanka to rally Hyderabad's youth against BRS
Hyderabad: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to visit the city on May 8, for a ‘Youth Sangarshan’ rally and a public meeting at Saroornagar Grounds, according to the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.
Priyanka Gandhi will arrive at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 3.30 pm, proceed to Saroornagar in a chopper and interact with families of Congress leaders who died, giving them Rs 2-lakh cheques, party sources said.
Later, Priyanka Gandhi will participate in a public meeting, where she is likely to make a youth declaration for the upcoming polls on the occasion of the ‘Youth Sangarshan’ rally.
After the public meeting, around 5 pm, Priyanka Gandhi would leave for Delhi, leaders said, following a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan, which also saw the presence of AICC Telangana incharge Manikrao Thakre.
Thakre said that the ruling BRS government failed to provide jobs to unemployed youth in Telangana and that Priyanka Gandhi would address the public on the injustice done to them.
“Priyanka Gandhi will announce the youth declaration in a public meeting. Youth have confidence in the Congress and the party will provide jobs to youth in Telangana. The BRS ruling government has done nothing for youth in nine years,” Thakre said.
He said that the Congress formed the Telangana state based on the youth movement in the state. After forming Telangana, the BRS party came to power and cheated the youth without providing jobs.
