For their leader, all the way from Aranmula
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Homemakers from Aranmula have descended on Vattiyoorkavu constituency, drumming up support for BJP candidate Kummanam Rajasekharan. They tell voters that whoever they are looking for is right there as their BJP candidate.
A group of five women with one of them being a teacher, M. R. Sreekumari, has come to Vattiyoorkavu voluntarily. The women who are camping in the constituency for two days went on a door-to-door campaign highlighting how Mr Rajasekharan was firm in his mission against Aranmula airport which went on for 108 days.
Ms Sreekumari, 48, says his agitation has met with success after the district collector has ordered to remove the earth earlier setup for the airport. “Kummanamji is an undisputed leader of Aranmula. The people of Vattiyoorkavu would not have got another leader of his stature. We wish to come here again for another round of campaigning before the elections on May 16,” said Ms Sreekumari.
Homemaker Deepa Suresh, who has come from Aranmula, says the sweltering heat did not bother her when she went on a house-to-house campaign. She too offers whatever help she could for their local hero who has grown to be the state BJP president.
The two were accompanied by Thara Unnikrishnan, Mini Rajan and Sreelekha Rajan. The women folks distributed a pamphlet on Mr Rajasekharan, “Listen, we have got a protest story to tell,” which highlights their valiant battle against the airport.
