We will not be responsible if Congress loses in Mysuru: G.T. Deve Gowda

Few workers threatened to revolt and vote for the BJP candidate and Member of Parliament Mr Pratap Simha rather than support the Congress candidate.

Bengaluru: JD (S) leader and district in-charge minister, G T Deve Gowda, said neither his cabinet colleague Sa Ra Mahesh nor himself would be responsible if Congress candidate Mr C H Vijayshankar bites the dust in Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency, but they would strive to set right differences among workers of coalition partners.

He told the media before chairing a meeting with party workers here on Friday he would tell them to bury their differences and follow the instructions of party president H D Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to ensure the victory of coalition candidate Mr Vijayshankar. At the meeting, state unit president A H Vishwanath, Mr G T Devegowda, and Mr Sa Ra Mahesh, reportedly had tough time convincing party workers to support Congress the candidate. Few workers threatened to revolt and vote for the BJP candidate and Member of Parliament Mr Pratap Simha rather than support the Congress candidate.

Mr Vishwanath said: “Coalition dharma has to be followed. So we need to stay united. The Congress candidate has to win in Mysuru, and JD (S) candidate has to win in Mandya.”
