In Kuppam, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy tries to ignite BC community sentiments

Reddy alleged that Naidu had done nothing for Kuppam during his 14 years as the MLA of this constituency and the Chief Minister of AP.

Tirupati: YSRC Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy tried to ignite BC sentiment against Telugu Desam national president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his own constituency Kuppam on Friday.

Pushing the BCs against Mr Naidu, at the public meeting held here on Friday, the Opposition chief alleged that though BC community is in majority in Kuppam constituency, Mr Naidu, who had migrated here in the year 1989, has been denying them the seat since his arrival at this segment.

Claiming that it was Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, who brought polytechnic and degree colleges to Kuppam and developed it in all spheres, Mr Reddy alleged that Mr Naidu had done nothing for Kuppam during his 14 years as the MLA of this constituency and the Chief Minister of AP.

“Naidu is against the BCs, who are the majority in this constituency. Instead of allotting ticket to them, Mr Naidu has been holding the constituency which has never seen development since his arrival at here,” he alleged. Recalling the literacy rate, according to 2011 Census, Mr Reddy said that while there was 67 per cent literacy rate in the state, Kuppam constituency, which has been under the “tyranny of Chandrababu Naidu”, has achieved only 61.8 per cent.

Digging out the lack of infrastructure in Kuppam constituency, Mr Reddy pointed out that there is no government market in this constituency, despite huge production of flowers and fruits. “The government has failed to even set up a cold storage that enables the farmers to store fruits and flowers that are highly produced here, the YSRC chief said.
