Hyderabad: A group of Congress workers from Amberpet constituency demanded action against senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao for allegedly calling NSUI workers “rowdies”. The party workers staged a protest in front of the Gandhi Statue in Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday.

The protestors were the supporters of Mr Nuthi Srikanth who recently had a clash with Mr Hanumantha Rao at a meeting held to felicitate Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. It may be recalled that Mr Nuthi Srikanth had alleged that Mr Hanumantha Rao objected to his being given a ticket from Amberpet constituency.

Former NSUI national secretary Mohan said, “Mr Hanu-mantha Rao used abusive language against us and instigated his followers to attack us. We are also working for the party. How can Mr Hanumantha Rao call us rowdies? The party should suspend him.”
