Mettu Govinda Reddy as Party In-Charge for Rayadurg Assembly Segment

ANANTAPUR: The YSRC high command has given clearance to APICC chairman Mettu Govinda Reddy and asked him to act as the party in-charge of Rayadurg Assembly segment and lead the party as MLA candidate for the upcoming elections.

Soon after Rayadurg’s sitting MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy announced his decision to quit the party after Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy denied him the ticket for ‘poor performance’ and ‘adverse’ survey report, the Rayalaseema regional coordinator Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy directed Govinda Reddy to lead the party in Rayadurg on Saturday.

Sources said that Govinda Reddy met Ramachandra Reddy at Bangalore airport and reportedly discussed the consequences after sitting MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy suddenly quit the party and had made adverse remarks against Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Govinda Reddy, who represented Rayadurg during the TD regime, has been working as APIIC chairman. He launched a scathing attack on the sitting MLA Ramachandra Reddy for blaming the party chief for denying him a ticket.

“Ramachandra Reddy should control his tongue and should realise his failures and irregular practices in Rayadurg”, he alleged and advised every party worker to obey the high command’s decision. Govinda Reddy has the support of the co-brother of Kapu Ramachandra Reddy, who had recently lodged a complaint against the sitting legislator.

Govinda Reddy told Deccan Chronicle that he has been with the people of Rayadurg for more a decade and half.

“As sought by the high command, I will solve grievances of the public of Rayadurg Assembly segment from tomorrow”, he said.
