GHMC poll results: Son enters fray, dents mom’s chances

Kin of two MLAs fall by the wayside

HYDERABAD: Several surprising incidents were reported on the counting day. The TRS lost the BN Reddy division since the contesting candidate’s son had contested as an independent in an attempt to retain the seat within the family. BJP candidate M. Lacchi Reddy emerged victorious by a 32-vote margin over the ruling party candidate M. Laxmiprasanna Goud.

Interestingly, her son M. Ranjith Goud who had contested as an independent candidate secured 39 votes. These votes turned out to be very crucial to the outcome. While Lachi Reddy bagged 11,438 votes, Laxmiprasanna secured 11,406.

A similar incident was reported in Kukatpally division. Interestingly, the close battle between TRS, Congress and BJP turned out to be a triangular fight between co-brothers. While Jupally Satyanarayana represented the ruling party, Pavan Kumar fought on the BJP ticket and Vishwa Tejeshwar entered the fray as a Congress candidate. Satyanarayana emerged triumphant.

Cantonment MLA Sayanna's daughter Lasya Naditha lost at Kavadiguda despite TRS MLC K. Kavitha campaigning for her. Nayini Narsimha Reddy's son-in-law Srinivas Reddy from Ramnagar division, Muta Gopal's family member Muta Padma (Musheerabad), Uppal MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy wife Swapna from Habsiguda division were prominent losers.
