Hyderabad: A television news channel reporter and his mother-in-law were allegedly attacked by his cousin in Nagole on Sunday. Police said the attack was the outcome of a dispute over a piece of land in Vijayawada.
Meka Pavan Kumar, who works for a regional news channel, and his family had inherited a piece land in Vijayawada. There were disputes over the land with his maternal aunt’s family.
On Sunday, Mr Pavan Kumar and his cousin Srinivas, who stays in Jeedimetla, had an argument over the phone. Srinivas came to the reporter’s home in Nagole and continued the quarrel.
He suddenly took a kitchen knife that he was carrying and attacked Mr Pavan Kumar, police said. His mother-in-law Hymavathi who came to Mr Kumar’s rescue was also injured, Chaitanyapuri inspector G. Guru Raghavendra said. Srinvas fled after the incident. Both Mr Kumar and Ms Hymavathi were stabbed in the chest and were taken to hospital. Police is looking for Srinivas
