Old rivals to fight it out again in Karwan

Hyderabad: Karwan constituency pits old rivals from the AIMIM, BJP, and the Congress in the Assembly election all over again.

Two-time AIMIM legislator Kausar Mohiuddin is drawn against Congress candidate Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri and BJP’s Amar Singh. Incidentally, each of the three parties has re-fielded its 2018 election candidates. BRS, on the other hand, has replaced T. Jeevan Singh with Aindala Krishnaiah.

Karwan constituency has 3,53,833 voters, including 1,81,799 male, 1,72027 female, and seven transgender voters.

In the 2018 election, having polled 53 per cent, Kausar Mohiuddin defeated Amar Singh with a margin of 50,169 votes. The BRS candidate was third with a 15% vote rate while the Congress polled a meager seven per cent.

Hajri claims that his party was an alternative to the Majlis in the constituency.

The Congress and BJP are blaming the AIMIM for the corruption, crime, unemployment, land grabbing, and mafia regime prevalent in the segment.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Hajri said, “The MIM always wins with bogus votes, booth capturing and goonda raj. The people of Karwan are against the MIM and its ways of extortion and encroachment.

The leaders boast of having spent Rs 1,000 crore on the area’s development. We want to see this so-called development. People are still struggling to have clean drinking water while sewages and drainages are overflowing and garbage is piled up everywhere”.

He added, “We are assuring the people that if we come to power, we will address issues like Metro connectivity, employment, education, safe drinking water, and work to eliminate the mafia regime in the constituency”.

Amar Singh said that it was only his party that could save the people of Karwan from the nefarious AIMIM, which is hand in glove with the BRS government. They are responsible for the rampant corruption and poor facilities in the area, he said.

“We will strive for Narendra Modi’s vision of Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas, without any discrimination. We are for the progress of all people, including Hindus and Muslims. We will resolve the land disputes of Wakf Board and endowments and at Musi river that have been encroached by MIM goons,” Singh told Deccan Chronicle.

Mohiuddin, refuting the allegations, said, “It seems that the Congress candidate has forgotten that he was a rowdy sheeter himself and the BJP can never support or work for the public. For the last five years, we have been working hard to provide education, better healthcare, and development of people. We will continue to do so”.

Krishnaiah was reluctant to speak on the matter and said that his party would fight as per the party manifesto.
