Nizamabad Urban Congress Leaders Pull Themselves Away for Shabbir Ali
NIZAMABAD: Congress leaders of Nizamabad Urban Assembly constituency have declared their support to senior party leader Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Sunday by withdrawing themselves from the contest. A special meeting was conducted at Ali’s residence in Kamareddy on Sunday. Though the party state leadership has officially not declared his candidature for Nizamabad Urban, but party’s national leadership finalised it.
As many as 13 MLA aspirants including former MLC Akula Lalitha, former mayor D.Sanjay, city Congress president Kesha Venu, TPCC leaders Taher Bin Hamdan, Narala Ratnakar withdrew their applications and extended their support. They welcomed Ali to contest from the seat promising a thumping majority. They shared their views on the election at the meeting, which was presided over by Nizamabad DCC president Manala Mohan Reddy.
They said that after former PCC president D. Srinivas left the Congress, the party had a vacuum of leadership in Nizamabad Urban. “We are thankful to the AICC for sending senior leader Shabbir Ali to the constituency”, they said. They assured to work united to bring the previous glory to the party in the segment.
Speaking at the meeting, Shabbir Ali said that he felt very sad to cede the Kamareddy constituency. “Your (Congress leaders) love and affection gives me to serve the people of Nizamabad’, he said. Criticising that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family members had been looting the wealth of the people for the past 10 years, he said the Kaleshwaram project, a failure by the CM, was a classic example of high-level corruption.
Former minister P. Sudarshan Reddy, former MLC Arikela Narsa Reddy, TPCC general secretary Gadugu Gangadhar and others were present.
