Defeat ex-MP: Karnataka CM to Kurubas

As for rumours about M G T Devegowda of the JDS joining the Congress, he merely said, \"I cannot respond to everything you imagine.\"

Mysuru: With the state Assembly polls just seven months away Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has begun to work on ensuring the party’s win from his home district of Mysuru.

The Chief Minister, who has been in Mysuru since Tuesday, held a meeting of Congress party workers of Chamundeswari constituency at his farmhouse in T Katur to strategise for the coming elections.

He is also believed to be working hard to defeat veteran leader, in the Hunsur constituency to get back at him for quitting the Congress and joining the JDS recently.

Mr Siddaramaiah reportedly held a meeting of Kuruba leaders of Hunsur constituency in a hotel, where he appealed to them to support the Congress candidate, sitting MLA, Manjunath in Hunsur constituency and help him defeat Mr Vishwanath.

But later, responding to a demand by his supporters on Wednesday to field a Kuruba, advocate Ramakrishna, against Mr Vishwanath in Hunsur, he shot back, "Will only Kurubas vote in Hunsur? The ticket will be given to a candidate chosen by the high command, which will consider several aspects, including caste and social justice.”

Asked if his son, Dr S Yatindra, would contest from Varuna, he remained evasive, only saying that it was left to the party high command to decide.

As for rumours about M G T Devegowda of the JDS joining the Congress, he merely said, "I cannot respond to everything you imagine."
