Amit Shah's Kerala yatra to touch CM Pinarayi Vijayan's village today

Amit Shah to walk 11 km from Mambram to chief minister's home village Pinarayi in Janaraksha Yatra.

Kozhikode: The Red citadel of Pinarayi village will witness a mammoth rally of the saffron party on Thursday accompanied by BJP national president Amit Shah. He will walk the 11-km distance as part of the ‘Janaraksha Yatra’ being led by state president Kummanam Rajasekharan against ‘Jihadi and Red terror.’

The BJP is determined to take on the CPM in its bastion of Pinarayi, the home village of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, whom Mr Amit Shah blamed for the political murders in the state in his speech while inaugurating the yatra on Tuesday.

It was also at Parappuram in Pinarayi that the first meeting of undivided communist party was held in 1969. Moreover, it is the place of six RSS ‘Balidanis’ (martyrs).

“The yatra will kickstart at 10 a.m. from Mambram for Pinarayi village and Amit Shah would walk along 11 km. The rally is a tribute to our ‘balidanis’ who lay down their lives at the hands of political opponents,” said BJP Kannur district president P. Sathyaprakash.

The six BJP martyrs are Panunda Chandran, Surendran, Suresh Babu, Sathyan, Pinarayi Chandran and Remith. “Of them, four were nearby residents of Pinarayi Vijayan. We have 13 martyrs in Dharmadam constituency which the chief minister represents,” said BJP state council member and Pinarayi native R.K Giridharan.

The police have tightened the security steps to avert any untoward incidents. The road to Pinarayi has been decorated with yatra flags and materials.
