Revanth Reddy wants ERC posts filled

Mr Reddy said in the absence of ERC, the decisions taken by the state government in power sector are contrary to the law.

Hyderabad: TPCC working president and MP A. Revanth Reddy, in a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on Wednesday requested him to fill the posts of TS Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) chairman and its members. The posts have been vacant since long.

Mr Reddy said in the absence of ERC, the decisions taken by the state government in power sector are contrary to the law.

He said that the state government has constituted a three-member committee on December 28, 2018 headed by retired judge V. Bhaskar Rao to suggest names for appointment as the ERC chairman and two members. “After eight months, there has been no progress. Because of the non-existence of the ERC members, voluntary organisations and political parties are unable to express their opinions regarding the power sector,” Mr Reddy wrote.

He said that this also adding to the financial burden on power utilities. He asked Mr Rao to immediately start the process of appointing ERC chairman and members.
