AP took less loans than other states, says Buggana

Visakhapatnam: Finance minister Buggana Rajendranath has said the YSRC government borrowed less but achieved more development during the last four years compared to the previous governments.

The minister inaugurated the District Integrated Finance Complex in Vizianagaram town along with education minister Botsa Satyanarayana on Friday. The building cost Rs 14 crore.

The finance minister said the state government fought with the Centre and got several central projects sanctioned in addition to the old dues that were promised in the AP Reorganization Act.

“Though we were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic for two years, we borrowed less loans and got on well,’’ the minister said and condemned the Opposition parties for their campaign that the state was pushed into huge debts.

He said hereafter all the government buildings would be of a uniform design. The AP state architecture board has been formed for such initiatives. Fifty treasury buildings worth Rs 200 crore were being constructed in the state, of which 30 have been completed by spending Rs 35 crore.

Education minister Botsa Satyanarayana appreciated the architects and engineers for constructing the unique building. He said the collector’s office was built in 1983 and there was the need for a new complex or repairs.

The finance minister later visited the integrated collectorate complex in Srikakulam being built at a cost of Rs 145 crore. Officials told the minister that the three lakh square feet complex would be completed in another five months.

Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, Botsa Satyanarayana, revenue minister Dharmana Prasada, fisheries minister Appala Raju, special secretary to finance SS Rawat and Srikakulam collector Srikesh Lathkar were present.
